Duration of Course: 36 Hours Scope and Content: Developing and implementing a site safety plan; implementing decontamination procedures; performing Haz/Mat control; identification and verification of Haz/Mat; utilization of reference materials, incident management; hazard and risk assessment; educational and medical requirements. Designed to meet OSHA and NFPA Haz/Mat Technician Level. PREREQUISITE: Haz/Mat: Operations Level training.
Title: INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM (Basic through Advanced) Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audience: Emergency services personnel with responsibility to use, deploy, implement and/or function within a departmental Incident Command System (ICS). Duration of Course: 12 Hours Scope and Content: Overview of the structure and expendability of ICS; setup and implementation/operation of ICS.
Title: HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT COMMANDER Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audience: Emergency services personnel who are responsible for serving as an incident commander at a hazardous materials incident. Duration of Course: 24 hours Scope and Content: Direction and coordination of all aspects of the incident from initial response to stabilization; direction of resources; proper documentation; reporting requirements; and incident critiques. Designed to meet OSHA and NFPA Haz/Mat: Incident Command level. PREREQUISITE: Haz/Mat: Operations Level training and the NFA Incident Command System course.

Duration of Course: 6 hours Scope and Content: Characteristics and hazards of chlorine and hands-on use of Chlorine Institute A, B, and C kits.
Title: HAZMAT CHEMISTRY I Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audiences: Emergency response personnel responsible for analysis, management and response to an incident or responsible for fire prevention inspection where knowledge of chemical behavior of material is essential. Duration of Course: 36 hours Scope and Content: Terminology; Haz/mat classifications; Periodic Table; salts, oxidizers, and hydrocarbons; vapors; combustion analysis, and ignition factors.
Title: HAZMAT CHEMISTRY II Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audiences: Emergency response personnel responsible for analysis, management and response to an incident or responsible for fire prevention inspection where knowledge of chemical behavior of material is essential. Duration of Course: 24 hours Scope and Content: Corrosives; flammable solids; Class A fuels; and plastics. PREREQUISITE: Haz/mat Chemistry I
Title: FIREFIGHTER SAFETY AND SURVIVAL: THE COMPANY OFFICER'S RESPONSIBILITY Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audiences: Fire and rescue officers and others involved with fireground safety situations. Duration of Course: 12 hours Scope and Content: Overview of fireground deaths and injuries; safety in training; post-incident safety; and survival tips.
Title: MANAGING COMPANY TACTICAL OPERATIONS: PREPARATION Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audiences: Fire and rescue officers and others involved with pre-incident preparation. Duration of Course: 12 hours Scope and Content: Fireground commander's role; company readiness; communications process; and pre-incident planning. (This course is similar to the NFA course Preparing for Incident Command.)
Title: MANAGING COMPANY TACTICAL OPERATIONS: DECISION MAKING Agency Offering Course: Ohio Fire Academy Target Audiences: Fire and rescue officers, and others involved with situation assessment and decision making for structural firefighting operations. Duration of Course: 12 hours Scope and Content: Command sequence; size-up; assessment of resources needed; critical, strategic and tactical decisions; and action planning.
